For August, we are thrilled to announce that Michael Porteous has been named our Health and Safety Employee of the Month. Michael’s unwavering commitment to health and safety has made a significant impact on his colleagues and the overall safety culture at Had Fab.
Michael’s Dedication to Health and Safety
Michael was recognised for his exemplary dedication to ensuring the safety of his colleagues, particularly in his efforts to educate and raise awareness about the hazards associated with using an abrasive wheel on galvanised coatings. This task, while common in our industry, carries inherent risks that require careful attention and strict safety protocols. Michael took it upon himself to not only follow these protocols diligently but also to ensure that his teammates were fully informed and equipped to do the same.
One of the standout contributions Michael made was his focus on educating team members about the importance of wearing respiratory protective equipment (RPE) during this task. Galvanised coatings, when abraded, can release harmful particles into the air, posing a serious risk to respiratory health if proper precautions are not taken. Michael’s proactive approach in reinforcing the use of RPE has undoubtedly helped to protect his colleagues and prevent potential health issues.
