Millerhill Gantries

Case Study: Costain

Project Scope: Fabrication of 8 Large Span Lighting Gantries

Client: Costain

Project: Part of EGIP Project – Millerhill Electric Train Depot Lighting Gantries

Value: £400K

Scope of Project:

Fabrication of 8 Large Span Lighting Gantries (58m approx.)

Working with designs provided by Jacobs we were requested to detail the General Arrangement (GA) Drawings.

Delivery of Scope:

As part of our consultation with the principle designers, Jacobs, we were tasked with detailing the GA drawing, and we were also tasked with designing the connections as the design had to be split into manageable sections (spliced). We also designed the GRP walkway and Mesh Screens as part of the structures.

Working closely with the installation contractor (Story) we kept in close contact with them to deliver the structures within a schedule that matched their capability and expectation.

Added Value:

From initial discussions to delivery, we delivered the project within 14 weeks. As part of the manufacturing process we consulted with the client and designers so that we could provide a bolted structure rather than welded which helped facilitate galvanising and transport.
Due to issues on site delivery was held back and we had to keep the structures in storage until they could be accepted. Once delivered, we were requested to provided engineers onsite to help with assembly and erection.

Outcomes

We successfully consulted on the fabrication of 8 large span structures, using our expertise and flexibility to help deliver for a key customer, whilst also communicating & working closely with their contractors to successfuly fulfil our element of the project to our customers complete satisfaction.
